As part of National Allotment Society’s Allotment Week, Wharfside Park Allotments opened its gates to the public for the very first time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how the day turned out! The sun was shining, the plots were looking their best, and the sense of community was truly inspiring.
A Big Thank You to Our Committee and Plotholders
First and foremost, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated and hardworking committee. The countless hours of planning, organizing, and preparing paid off beautifully. Without your tireless efforts, this event simply wouldn’t have been possible.
To all our wonderful plotholders, thank you for going the extra mile to engage with the public and prospective new members. Your enthusiasm and passion for gardening shone through in every conversation, and it was heartwarming to see so many people interested in joining our community. We know how much care and effort you put into keeping your plots in tip-top condition, and it was evident in the pride you took in showing them off.
Special Thanks to Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
A special thank you goes to the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust for their attendance and invaluable specialist advice. Their presence added an educational aspect to the day, offering insights into sustainable gardening practices and the importance of wildlife-friendly allotments. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.

A Successful First Public Event
Being our first-ever public event, there was naturally some nervousness about how everything would go. But we’re delighted to report that the day went without a hitch! The feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s all thanks to the incredible teamwork and dedication of everyone involved.
This Open Day was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the beauty and benefits of allotment gardening, and it’s clear that our community made a lasting impression on all who attended. We hope to welcome many new faces to Wharfside Park in the coming seasons!
Looking Forward
As we reflect on the success of this event, we’re already thinking ahead to the future. We hope to make the Open Day an annual tradition, and with the support of our plotholders, committee, and partners like the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, we know that each year will only get better.
Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day a triumph. We couldn’t have done it without you all, and we look forward to many more successful events at Wharfside Park Allotments!
Happy gardening! 🌱
